The Principle of Weight
What happens when we truly feel the weight of our bones? Can releasing into gravity help free tension in the tissues and open pathways for better internal communication throughout the body? Imagine the relief of letting go—the weight of a limb, the weight of a thought, the weight of holding it all together. Letting go physically is the body’s expression of letting go emotionally and mentally, opening a doorway to greater freedom and ease.
With attention, weight transforms from a burden to a resource. We feel the support of the Earth rising up through the body, the buoyancy of the head floating upward, and the spine lengthening in a responsive, three-dimensional web of fascia, muscle, and fluid. Weight can become a conversation, limbs can dangle, bones can release within soft tissues, and the body can find a state of effortless suspension—like floating in a vast ocean of pleasantness. Whether in partnered tablework or in personal movement, the more we sense and distribute weight through the whole body, the easier and more uplifting movement becomes.

Book Excerpts on Weight
This necessary pre-movement phase we refer to as “feeling the weight” allows perception to grow deeper and expand. The sensation of spaciousness that the movements provide when the heaviness of tension has gone opens the path to a feeling of something softer and brighter—lightness.
